Lovely little dive dinner! We had the Super "A" omelette with hash browns and we shared a cinnamon roll. Delish!! The omelette had a yummy green chili sauce in it and the hash browns are like breakfast potatoes that have been sautéed as grilled. Cinnamon roll was homemade and yummo as well. Definitely recommend if you are in the Denver area!!

A great traditional, old-school, short-order diner in look & food. Reasonably priced for a good amount of food and the service was really good. Being a diner, the food can be super heavy, but it is still good with the fresh preparation.
The main reason we went in was for the Cinnamon Roll that is supposed to be one of the best in Denver. Sadly...it was hard and dry so maybe we just got bad timed ones. :(
My favorite thing was that unlike so many other brunch places in Denver, we didn't have to wait to get a seat and get to ordering! Go here for that small town feel. -

Not my kind of place and I should have researched it better before attempting to go here for lunch.
Yes, a divey place which is fine but I'd actually describe it a greasy spoon diner instead.
The menu options are food I'd never choose to eat. If you eat healthy, move along, this is not your place.
There was a "chef salad" as an option that reminded me of a heavily cheesed out salad you'd see at a convenience store.
The waitress was friendly and the place looked very clean, just not my kinda place. -

Love this place! The owners are exceptionally nice and engaging...service is the same. Total old school diner atmosphere...love the cute 2 person booths. We ate dinner here the other night before a Mission Ballroom show. The food is served hot and very tasty. This is not an upscale place with flashy food. It's like walking into a '70's diner back in Philadelphia when I was a kid. To stay in tune with that theme, I had to order the Chopped Sirloin w/ Mushroom Gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and bowl of Turkey rice soup. If your a food snob like me, but openminded and love an experience from yesteryear, with basic, but well prepared hot served dishes...this is it! Can't wait to go back for breakfast and order an extra helping of the amazing looking, perfectly cooked/burnt potatoes (in yelp! photos).

The Butcher Block Cafe is a great old school diner with straight-forward, no nonsense food. We tried the smothered breakfast burrito, biscuit with gravy, and their homemade cinnamon roll. I'm always down to try a restaurant's green chile, and theirs is very simply spiced and thickened with corn starch, which is not my jam. I felt the same way about their gravy - very simply (one might even say under) seasoned. The hash browns that made up a large part of the burrito's insides had a lot of potential, but they were no doubt under seasoned. I questioned whether they added any salt and pepper at all. Finally, the cinnamon roll was very tasty and I appreciate that they're baking them from scratch. Their biscuits were made from the same dough and had a nice crumbly texture. Overall, this is a fine place to go for a retro, no bullshit kinda meal.
